About the author: This book is writen bij Ruud Weijermars in the 1990s. Ruud Weijermars holds a BSc and MSc in Geoscience from the University of Amsterdam, and a PhD from the University of Uppsala. Here he joined as an Associate Professor and remained affiliated for many years. He moved on to hold positions in ETH Zurich, the United States, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in Saudi Arabia and Delft University of Technology. In the latter he is affiliated to the department of Geotechnolgoy.
Throughout the sixteen chapters of which these two parts numerous exercises are included.The answers to these exercises can be found in the appendix.
